About the Item
Charles Levier Woman Seated by the Corsican Sea, A Masterful Oil Painting
This large oil on canvas masterpiece by Charles Levier invites you into a world of artistic wonder. Picture a woman seated at a table, bathed in soft light streaming through a window. Before her lies a lovely bouquet of flowers, their vibrant colors echoing the beauty of the Corsican sea beyond.
Artistic Influences:
Levier's brushstrokes dance with abstraction, leaving room for interpretation and emotion. The play of light and color evokes the spirit of post-impressionist luminaries. Hidden angles and geometric forms add intrigue, reminiscent of the cubist movement. The sea beckons, its waves echoing the rhythm of life.
Collector's Gem:
This painting is more than art; it's a collector's item. Levier's technique, akin to that of Bernard Buffet, infuses the canvas with depth and soul. Professionally framed, it awaits its place on your wall, ready to transport you to the shores of Corsica.

About the Artist:
Charles Levier French Artist: b. 1920-2003: Charles Levier, aka Maurice Verrier, was born in 1920 of a French Father and an American Mother in Corsica. He held a fascination with color and form that led him, at age seventeen, to the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs for private studies. World War II broke out and Levier served in the French army in North Africa, later becoming Liaison Officer with the U.S. Office of Strategic Services. Coming to America to live, Levier divided his time between the United States and France. Leviers' first one-man show took place at the Galerie Constantine in Lyons in 1949, followed by an American debut in Los Angeles in 1950.
In 1955, he came to the attention of Dr. Lilienfeld of Van-Diemen, Lilienfeld Gallery in New York City. Dr. Lilienfeld was widely respected, and his personal enthusiasm of Levier's work was instrumental in establishing him as a significant artist and proved a most valuable introduction to numerous collectors. Levier is first and foremost a figurative painter, dramatic and expressionistic, definitive yet seductive, yet always subtle with carefully considered colors.
Paintings by Charles Levier can be found in countless private and public collections. Among those collectors are Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lawford, Frank Sinatra, Adlai Stevenson, Baron Edmond de Rothschild, Prince and Princess Poniatowski, Mrs. Dan Topping, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Martin.
Levier died in 2003.
