About the Item
Recently, the work of Dutch artist Ger Dekker (1943 – 2020) was discovered in Egmond-Binnen, The Netherlands. A true find according to many, these impressive works in a highly personal color palette.
Ger Dekker was an artist with his very own style, but his work is also reminiscent of 20th century Dutch masters Gerrit Rietveld, Theo van Doesburg en Piet Mondriaan. Ger Dekker's non-figurative, abstract and geometric paintings are very vivid and clearly have personality. Moreover they have a dynamic that may be called exceptional. They seem to add a new layer to theirselves if the viewer chooses a different perspective.
Ger Dekker was closely associated with Gerrit Rietveld. Not only did he teach at the famous Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, he was also a great admirer of the master, as evidenced by the many original furniture by Gerrit Rietveld that stood in his interior. Apart form paintings Ger Dekker also created sculptures.
This is one of the last paintings Ger Dekker made, in 2017, before passing away.
