About the Item
An impressionist landscape by the Massachusetts artist Gertrude Ann Youse. Known affectionately as Gay, Youse was a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in the 1940s where she was influenced by the Austrian Expressionist Oskar Kokoschka. In the 1950s she settled in Duxbury on the southern coast of Massachusetts and spent her life teaching and creating art relating to the historic town. Youse painted portraits and still lifes but was particularly noted for her captivating landscapes. 26” x 22” as framed, on 16” x 12” academy panel.
