A framed Indian ceremonial Hindu deity from the mid 20th century, hand-painted on canvas. Created in India during the midcentury period, this scene, hand-painted on canvas and set inside a gilded frame and secured under glass, depicts a female deity standing on a lotus flower, surrounded by other characters floating on clouds. Showcasing a narrow waist and a tall headdress, the goddess is looking at us directly, inviting us in. With its abundant décor and lovely polychromy, this Indian hand-painted canvas will enliven any wall beautifully, perhaps hung above a commode, side table or altar table.
