About the Item
Mario Fernando Beltrami (Italian, born May 2, 1902 - died September 7, 1987) was a renowned portrait and landscape painter who competed in the 1932 Summer Olympics Art Competitions for Italy. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera under Cesare Tallone and Ambrogio Alciati. Exhibitions were held in Amsterdam, Braunschweig, Pavia, and Milan as well as representation at the Roma Quadriennale (1935-51) and the Venezio Biennale (1936-50).
This is a wonderful still life by the artist, made during the last year of his life. The vibrancy of color combined with the simplicity of the subject matter are as refreshing as the fruit itself. And who doesn't want a watermelon in their kitchen year round?
Signed by the artist lower right. The painting is framed and held under glass. It measures 23" wide x 20" tall.
