Large 1970s Unframed Oil on Canvas Painting - South African artist Cyril Fradan
About the Item
An impressive large scale unframed mixed media oil & acrylic painting by South African artist Cyril Fradan (1928-1997).
The subject is a figure of a man standing on a rocky coastline wearing a long abstract patterned cape.
The work is painted mainly in shades of blue giving a misty mystical feel.
South African artist and designer, who worked exclusively in acrylic paints, incorporating various glazing techniques.
Relocating to London in the 1960s, Fradan exhibited successfully in British and European art centres.
As well as painting Fradan provided costume designs in 1955 for Shakespeare Hamlet, 1966 Yeats Purgatory.
He held annual summer music festivals at his home in Addison Gardens, London.
