Large Oil Panting “Cleaning Fishes”, Social Realism Style
About the Item
Wonderful and interesting large social realism oil painting depicting fishermen and men and women at work, collecting and cleaning fishes.
We see the influence of folk art and social themes in this large work in a certain stylised Social Realism, celebrating everyday slices of life and the common man. The setting is dreamlike in which all people work together peacefully, everyone responsible for his or her part. The painting is very attractive, both in size and colours.
Late 20th century expressionist, oil on canvas. Signed and dated, A(lexander) Vlasenko (A. BLACEHKO) 1987. Presented in a painted wooden frame.
This painting fits in a tradition of paintings of people cleaning fishes. The provenance can be Russia or Ukraine possibly.
