Very rare painting oil on canvas by the artist William Langley
Title “View of Menton Cap Martin”
It depicts a beautiful view of the French Riviera, in particular Cap Martin-Menton
Original grey-blue lacquered frame.
Original label on the back “View of Menton Cap Martin”
William Langley was a 19th/20th century landscape painter.
An excerpt from " Hidden Talents: A Dictionary of Artists Working 1880-1950 " (Jeremy Wood, England) notes in reference to Langley:
'Painter in oil of rural landscapes and coastal scenes who was working in the early 1900s. The subjects of this prolific artist included views in Cornwall, the South of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Among the titles of known works are 'On the Lledr', 'Wee Bridge, Killarney', 'In the Glen', and 'Sunshine after Rain, a Village in the Thames'.
