Pair of English Watercolor Landscapes with Gothic Castles on a River Bank

About the Item

A pair of 19th century English framed watercolor landscapes each with a medieval castle towering a river. The first one depicts a castle illuminated by the sunshine breaking through the foliage on the opposite bank in the foreground. The crenellated towers stand out against an expansive sky reflected in the calm waters beneath. The second watercolor shows another Gothic castle with towers and bartizans seen from the opposite river bank, flanked by autumnal trees. The artist has rendered amazing effects of luminosity thanks to the watercolor technique and its liquid nature, regarded as one of the most challenging artistic techniques. This pair of 19th English watercolors, with their restricted palette and dry lines for the details, would bring a Gothic accent to any home.
