Pair of Jokers by Nicholas Thompson

About the Item

Pair of Jokers by Nicholas Thompson. Two large oil on board paintings of two women holding playing cards, with a homage to Jackson Pollock featuring Pollock’s signature by Thompson on the right side. Thompson was a follower of the 'Madchester' music and clubbing scene during the 80s & 90s, especially the Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays, and a frequent visitor to the Hacienda nightclub during that period. Shows the influence of Pauline Boty (1938-66), a British Pop Art painter in the early 60s. Each painting is 91cm by 122cm high.
