Perot" Item # 010HZP22U A rich and vibrant scene by Philadelphia native Annie Perot, the present work is a cheerful view capturing the juxtaposition of nature and the harshest aspects of the city. Smoke pours from the factory smoke stacks in the distance while the colorful houses in the forefront are reminiscent of a Bermuda paradise. In the forefront nearly two-thirds of the painting is dedicated to a chaotic natural landscape that is overtaking the homes and buildings in real-time. The brush work is intense and dramatic with heavy impasto strokes and a strong preference for vertical lines against a wonderfully textured canvas. Annie Lovering Perot was born in Philadelphia on October 20th of 1854 and spent her career promoting art in her beloved city. She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy under such titans as William Merritt Chase, Hugh Breckenridge and Thomas Anshutz...
