Snowy landscape Measures: 23 cm x 36 cm (without frame) - oil on canvas 9.1 in x 14.2 in (without frame) Snowy Italian landscape (Valbelluna) Luigi Cima was born in Villa di Villa (Belluno) on 5 January 1860, he died in Belluno on 1 January 1944. After completing his technical studies in Feltre, he moved to Venice to enroll in the Academy of Fine Arts, where he attended the courses of Eugenio De Blaas. He dedicates himself with preference to scenes of working life in the countryside and the mountains of Feltre, to the animated landscape with figures of acute realism, to the scenes of Venetian life and to the portrait. Exhibitions After completing his artistic studies, from the early 1980s he undertook a series of dense participations in the main national pictorial reviews; in 1881 he made his debut at the Permanente di Venezia with Casa rustica, A stream in Venice, At the market, obtaining numerous consents. The picture The return from the pasture, present at the Turin exhibition in 1884, is purchased by the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. In the same year he also participated in the Permanente in Milan and in the review of the Society of Fine Arts of Verona, with Rio of buckets and Rustic courtyard. In 1886 he exhibited three works at the first permanent exhibition in Milan, of which Interno di San MarCo in Venice (Preghiera a San MarCo), was bought by the commendator Federico Milyus. The Venice exhibitions of 1887 will follow, where Cima exhibited Beniamino and Angoscie materne, Summer and April, with a clear debt to Luigi Nono's painting; the 1891 exhibition in Munich with The work of the fields and The return from the market, a description of everyday life in the city of birth; the Venetian Biennale of 1895 with Snowfall and Cows at the puddle; that of 1897 with The Blacksmiths. In the same year in Verona he presented La capraia; at the 1898 National Turin Exhibition> At the village festival; in Milan in 1900 In the spring. After the Veronese exhibition of 1902, with Last Days of Autumn and The Vigil of the Poor, Cima stops participating in official reviews.
