"Moira and the Cat by Joan Myers Hand Signed 1/20 Platinum-palladium print photograph, Hand Colored From her series of photograph's titled Women of a Certain Age As Joan Myers approached 50, she decided it was time to deal with issues of aging. Reviewing art history she saw very few images of nude, older women in art-outside of witchcraft treatises-and decided to make the needed pictures herself. ""Women of a Certain Age"" debuted at Santa Fe's Linda Durham Gallery in September and struck a chord with female viewers. Most were awed by Myers' acceptance and appreciation for bodies of all shapes, sizes and life stages.""- Santa Fe Photographic Workshops (1994) Kathy Grove (born 1948) is an American conceptual feminist photographer. As a professional photo retoucher for fashion magazines, Grove became familiar with airbrushing and photo manipulation techniques in that industry.Her work uses those skills to remove subjects from iconic works, or to alter their appearance. Grove wrote that this practice is intended to ""portray women as they have been regarded throughout history, invisible and inaudible."
