French Railways SNCF 1967 Paris Travel Poster, Bernard Buffet
About the Item
Wonderfully atmospheric poster of the famous medieval cathedral, Notre Dame, which was damaged by a devastating fire in 2019. This is the English version printed in 1967 for French Railways, promoting rail travel to Paris.
Bernard Buffet (1928-1999) was born and studied in Paris, where his work was first shown at the Galerie Beaux-Arts. He had at least one major exhibition every year and now has a strong following among collectors due to his rich line-work and subdued colour.
This vintage poster is sized 24 x 39.5 inches (62 x 100 cm) and has been professionally linen-backed in the European style (without any restoration). Fab condition, just slight yellowing at edges. It will be sent rolled.

Bernard Buffet
Bernard Buffet was born on July 10, 1928, in Paris. He was a French painter of Expressionism and a member of the anti-abstract art group L'homme Témoin. He studied art at the École Nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts and worked in the studio of the painter Eugène Narbonne. Buffet died on October 4, 1999, in Tourtour, France.
