Depicting Nud Bleu II from the cut-out series from the late 1940s, this gorgeous poster was created to promote an exhibition featuring the works of the painter Matisse as well as Braque, Chagall, Masson and Picasso at the Musee d'Art Moderne in Ceret. The exhibition in Southern France ran from July to September 1980. Born 1869, Matisse is best known as a French artist, known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. He was a draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter. Matisse is commonly regarded as one of the artists who best helped to define the revolutionary developments in the visual arts throughout the opening decades of the twentieth century, responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture.
