About the Item
Striking Original Posters printed as a Signal System for the various Disciplines of the Mexico 68 Olympic Games. Each poster is dedicated to a specific sport with its own specially designed pictogram. The clever Graphic System is based on an easily identified Black Pictogram against a strong one-color background, at the top or bottom of each -as a unifying element- is the games´ logo that integrated very successfully "Mexico 68" with the five Olympic rings. They were created by a team of designers led by Lance Wyman and coordinated by Architect Pedro Rámirez Vázquez. We offer unframed* pieces in the medium square format of 44.5 x 45 cms. They have the proper credits for "Impreso en México por Miguel Galas S.A." (the officially appointed press), as well as "Comité Organizador de los XIX Juegos Olímpicos/ Programa de Identidad Gráfica/ Departamento de Diseño Gráfico" (Organizing Comitee/Graphic Identity Program). The games of 1968 became a turning point in the way these types of events were organized, and many professionals consider its design the most appealing and effective ever. The Signal System created by Wyman was so successful that his team was commissioned the design of the Signal System for the Mexico City Subway and other equally important commissions for Mexico´s infrastructure. One can clearly see in modern advertisements the great influence these marvelous 60-year designs had on designers until this day. *Framed posters in silver wood moldings are shown as samples of look and size.
