'Muhammad Ali: Skill, Brains and Guts' Original US One Sheet Movie Poster, 1975

About the Item

Originally released in 1970 as 'A.k.a. Cassius Clay', this boxing documentary film followed the life and career of legendary former heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali. Directed by Jimmy Jacobs, the film was made during Ali's exile from the sport for refusing to be inducted into the US Army on religious grounds. Narrated by Richard Kiley, the film features archival footage of Ali's fights with Sonny Liston, Henry Cooper, George Chuvalo and Floyd Patterson, intercut with discussion between Ali and veteran boxing trainer Cus D'Amato. When the distribution rights were purchased by the Bryanston Distribution company, the film was re-released in 1975 with the new title 'Muhammad Ali: Skills, Brains and Guts' and this punchy new poster featuring a famous black and white shot of the boxing legend on a popping yellow ground. It is rare to find an unfolded example of this popular poster. CONDITION Unfolded, not backed. Creasing and handling shells scattered throughout, a few puckered creases and dings with fine surface loss. Heavier creasing and light soiling to lower left corner in margins. Colours bright and fresh.
