Original vintage advertising poster for Royal Exchange Assurance Incorporated A.D 1720 Fire Life Sea Accident & General Insurances - featuring a view by the notable British poster artist Frank Newbould (1887-1951) of the historic 16th century Royal Exchange building in London with iconic red double decker buses marked General and classic cars on the road in the foreground, men in bowler hats and suits carrying briefcases and people walking on the pavement by the 1844 equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington on his horse and the 1920 London Troops Memorial in front of the steps leading to the Corinthian columns and pediment relief sculpture of merchants and traders with a flag above and the bold text on the blue sky background, the address with a blank information box below - Head Office Royal Exchange London EC3. Opened in 1571 by Queen Elizabeth I the Royal Exchange in London was founded by the English merchant and financier Sir Thomas Gresham with the Welsh merchant Richard Clough as a centre of commerce for the City of London, owned by the City of London and Worshipful Company of Mercers.
