About the Item
Original vintage advertising poster for an exhibition of Andy Warhol Cars at the Kunstmuseum in Bern from 2 March to 29 April 1990. Colourful image featuring four Mercedes Benz racing cars on green, red, blue and yellow backgrounds by the notable American pop artist Andy Warhol (1928-1987). The Cars series was commissioned by Mercedes Benz following the success of Warhol's first commissioned car artwork by the dealer Hans Meyer in 1986 for the 100 year anniversary of the motor car. Mercedes Benz holds a copy of the series (unfinished due to the artist's death in 1987) in their corporate art collection. Large size. Good condition, restored crease marks, restored tears, minor staining, backed on linen.
