About the Item
Original vintage London Transport poster featuring a colourful mid-century illustration by the painter and poster designer John Bainbridge (1919-1978) depicting a Royal Guard / Queen's Guard in smart military uniform and a bearskin hat holding a bayonet rifle gun and standing outside a sentry box marked ER II with a crown above, a flag flying on top of Buckingham Palace with lines on the ground leading the eye to the horizon below light clouds with trees on the side and the London Underground roundel logo below. John Bainbridge designed posters for London Underground from 1953 to 1957. Printed by the Baynard Press. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper losses on edges, browning, minor staining, backed on linen.
