Original Vintage Poster Pin Up Lady Telephone Mirror George Petty Art Design
About the Item
Original vintage poster featuring an illustration by the notable American pin-up artist George Brown Petty IV (1894-1975) depicting a lady in a transparent dress holding a sketch of a telephone in an outstretched hand on the left and looking at the viewer through the reflection of a mirror in her other hand. George Petty's pinup art was featured in men's magazines including Esquire and True as well as in calendars; his Esquire gatefolds led to the popularity of centerfold spreads; his work was copied by World War Two military artists for nose art decorating warplanes including the famous Memphis Belle, which became known as Petty Girls. Very good condition, minor staining, light browning.
