Poster to promote Octobal Coste Rum, rum imported from Martinique by E. SIMON, in Le Havre.
On the poster a peasant girl stands in front of an officer (certainly from the Navy) in uniform. He wears a cocked hat with tricolor cockade, braid and gold button, and a sword in its sheath. He wears wooden shoes. The officer looks like Napoleon or a Corsican.
An umbrella, a bunch of carrots and a goose are drawn to reinforce the idea that rum is good for health as are vegetables and meat.
