About the Item
Original vintage travel poster for the coastal town of Sorrento on the Bay of Naples in southwestern Italy showing an image by the Italian artist Mario Puppo (1913-1989) framed by a palm tree of a lady in traditional colourful dress leading a horse decorated in feathers and a bow, attached to a carriage formed by a film reel as the base with a man playing music on a guitar and a lady in a bikini holding water skis on a beach in front of sailing boats on the blue sea leading to hills on the horizon, the bold text on the blue sky above. Originally printed in 1954 for Sorrento, published by ENIT the Italian government tourist board, this poster was reused in 1974 with an overprint to promote the 1ro Raduno Interregionale Bersaglieri / 1st Interregional Gathering of the Bersaglieri section of the Italian Army infantry corps on 5-6 October. Fair condition, folds, staining, creasing, tears, restored tears.
