Original vintage SNCF railway travel poster for the Cote d'Azur / French Riviera on the Mediterranean coast featuring a scenic view by the French painter Edmond Ceria (1884-1955) towards hills on the horizon with sailing boats at sea and boats moored at a jetty in front of tables at a cafe in the foreground, the image framed by palm trees and the restaurant awning with the title text on the border below. Printed in France for and by the French National Railways (SNCF Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer Francais; founded 1938). Fair condition, restored tears, restored folds, restored creasing, staining, browning, ink stamp in bottom left corner, backed on linen.

Edmond Céria
Edmond Céria was born in Évian-les-Bains (Haute-Savoie). Céria studied at the Académie Julian. He exhibited with the Salon des Artistes Indépendants from 1907, the Salon d'Automne from 1912, and with the Salon des Tuileries from its foundation in 1925. Solo exhibitions included shows at the Galerie Bernheim in Paris and the Wildenstein Gallery in New York.
