Original vintage Soviet propaganda poster - A pioneer is a diligent student he is disciplined and polite - featuring an illustration of a young school boy wearing a red neck tie of the Pioneers, standing in front of a chalk board solving a maths equation, the bold red lettering below. The Young Pioneers (Vladimir Lenin All-Union Pioneer Organisation; 1922-1991) was a Soviet youth organisation similar to the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides groups for children aged 9-15 years old; the uniform included a distinctive red neckerchief on a white shirt and their motto was to be prepared: Always Prepared / Всегда готов! ДОСААФ (Dosaaf; the Volunteer Society for Cooperation with the Army, Aviation and Fleet) was founded in 1927 for the development of paramilitary sports as a preparation for reserve armed forces.
