About the Item
Original vintage Soviet travel poster for the Georgian Military Highway issued by the state tourism agency Intourist featuring great Art Deco artwork by Alexander Zhitomirsky (1907-1993) depicting smartly dressed people wearing suits and fashionable clothing, hats and scarves, enjoying a scenic drive in a speeding blue convertible car by a cliff with rocks along the side and snow topped mountains in the distance, the bold text and Intourist logo on the margin below. Constructed in the 18th century and paved in the 19th century the historic Georgian Military Road / Highway links Tbilisi in Georgia and Vladikavkaz in Russia (212 kilometres; 132 miles). Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, minor creasing, minor staining, backed on linen.
