Original vintage travel poster for British European Airways and British Overseas Airways Corporation - Fly to London with BEA / BOAC - featuring a colourful image by the British artist and illustrator Clive Uptton (1911-2006) depicting a policeman and people watching royal guards ride their horses towards the Wellington Arch with a plane flying overhead and a car and London bus driving along the tree lined road. Printed in Great Britain by McCorquodale & Co., London. Good condition, repaired tears, small paper loss in the top left corner, minor staining, backed on linen.

Clive Uptton
Clive Uptton was a widely regarded British illustrator and painter of landscapes and portraits. He was born in Islington, London, the son of Uptton, who worked for Swain's, the engravers, as a touch-up artist and later for the Daily Mail newspaper. Uptton was educated at Brentwood Grammar School and Southend Art School before moving to London to attend Central Art School and, later, Heatherley's School of Art.
