About the Item
Original vintage World War Two propaganda poster - The Gloucesters, a famous regiment from Great Britain, raided Letpadan and drove the Japanese from the town, inflicting heavy casualties. Smash Japanese Aggression! - featuring a battle scene in Burma (now Myanmar) depicting British soldiers in uniform using rifle gun bayonets fighting against the cowering enemy soldiers with the caption heading and bold title text below. This successful dawn raid by the Gloucestershire Regiment (known as the Glosters; 1881-1994) in March 1942 on the Irrawaddy front was part of the South East Asia Burma campaign (1942-1945). Good condition, folds, creasing, tears, staining, browning.
