Original vintage World War Two propaganda poster - Eux Aussi Achetent des Obligations de la Victoire / They Too Buy Victory Bonds - featuring artwork by Charles Comfort (1900-1994) depicting soldiers in uniform holding guns and marching across a battlefield surrounded by debris and tanks with explosions in the background of fire and plumes of smoke filling the sky in front of hills, the bold title text and caption in French below, translated to English as - This painting is a reproduction of an original Canadian Army painting. It depicts our infantry clearing a German stronghold destroyed by our artillery. The sketches which served as the basis for the painting were drawn on site during the action by Major C. F. Comfort, official war painter of the Canadian army who subsequently incorporated them into this oil painting. Horizontal. Large size. Good condition, restored folds, restored paper losses, restored tears, staining, backed on linen.
