Original Vintage War Recruitment Propaganda Poster US Navy Reserve Arise America

About the Item

Original vintage World War Two recruitment propaganda poster - Arise Americans Your Country and Your Liberty are in grave danger Protect them now by joining the United States Navy or the U.S. Naval Reserve - featuring dynamic artwork by the American illustrator McClelland Barclay (1891-1943) of a sailor in uniform working hard, framed by patriotic white stars on a blue background representing the American flag with the bold text on a red background below. A prolific poster artist and commercial illustrator McClelland Barclay also designed navy camouflage; in 1938 he joined the Navy Reserve and was reported missing in action following a torpedo attack on board ship in the Solomon Islands in 1943. Very good condition, minor creasing, minor staining, backed on linen.
