Original Poster-Pal-Syndrome Sapho Opera Comique-Théâtre-Lyrique-Soprano,1897 This poster promotes the lyric piece "Sapho" which was performed at the Théâtre de l'Opéra-Comique (Paris) in 1897. Work by Henri Cain and Bernide, based on the novel by Alphonse Daudet on the music of Jean Massenet and with the representation of Miss Emma Calvé. Emma Calvé, is a French singer (Soprano) born in 1858 and died in 1942. She distinguished herself in particular in the title role of Carmen by Georges Bizet. From 1892, she sang regularly at the Royal Opera House in London and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She frequented the Chat Noir cabaret in Paris, in the company of Alfons Mucha, Papus, and Camille Flammarion. Poster produced by PAL (1855-1942), Romanian painter, illustrator and poster designer. In Paris and the United States, he produced a large number of posters, in particular advertisements for cycling, and also participated in the JOB collection (cigarette papers).
