This piece would have been used to advertise and sent out to news agencies.
This was Walt Disney's first feature animation and when it was released in 1937 was welcomed as a magical marvel. Disney estimated the cost of making this animation at $250,000, which was already ten times as much as making one of his short animations. However, it ended up costing a staggering 1.5 million dollars, with Disney having to mortgage his home to help finance the film. Luckily it ended up being a gamble worth taking, as the film grossed over 8 million dollars in its international first release, and was one of the most successful films of the decade. This piece is conservation framed with UV plexiglass in anTulip wood frame with acid free card mounts and UV plexiglass. There is a perspex window on the reverse of the frame showing RKO studio info. The size given is before framing. This piece would be boxed and shipped by Federal Express.

With a retelling of a German fairytale by the Brothers Grimm, Walt Disney introduced a sceptical America to his first full-length cel animated feature film in 1937. Hailed as a landmark work of art, 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' was a smash hit, paving the way for further Disney features including 'Pinocchio' (1940), 'Dumbo' (1941) and 'Bambi' (1942), and changing the course of movie history. Disney was awarded an honorary Oscar at the 11th Academy Awards for a significant screen innovation which has charmed millions and pioneered a great new entertainment field. Adjusted for inflation, 'Snow White' remains one of the top ten highest grossing films of all time.
