Original Swedish film poster for Charlie Chaplin and Edna Purviance 1919 silent comedy. This poster is for the films first Swedish release 1920. This one hundred and two year old poster is exceptionally rare, and has only surfaced a few times. This early American short silent film was written by, directed by and stars Charlie Chaplin. In it Charlie works crazy hours at a hotel in rural Sunnyside, where he also helps on the farm. He eats on the run, grabbing his coffee and milking a cow into it, hovering a chicken over a frying pan to get fried eggs !. Charlie falls in love with the neighbour's daughter (played by Edna Purviance), but her father doesn't approve of him. Edna is courted by a city slicker who has been hurt in a car accident, and arrives at the hotel. When Charlie is shunned by Edna he tries to imitate the city slicker to get her attention, donning spats and a walking cane. This all ends rather ambiguously, as it is unclear if the final scene of Charlie kissing Edna is in fact real or a dream. It would be shipped rolled in a very strong tube and sent by Federal Express.

Wear consistent with age and use. This poster is linen backed and in excellent condition, with the colour remaining very bright with only very minor restoration to folds.
