He saw advertising as a means for funding his passion for the movies, and after 6 years working with a number of agencies, he finally had the funds to establish his own. All this time, he was forging ever-closer links with the film industry, and in 1954 this led to a commission from Otto Preminger to design the poster for Carmen Jones.
