1977 Paul Wunderlich "Flower For Olympia" Print

About the Item

Beautiful print after Paul Wunderlich's painting "Blume für Olympia" or flower for Olympia. "Blume für Olympia" (A flower for Olympia), makes references to Manet's famous work from 1863. The original image has been reversed, with geometric proportions overlaid and a flower added to the composition. In addition to his own imaginative paintings and prints, Wunderlich frequently drew inspiration from Old Master works - making reference to da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Manet's Déjeuner sur l'herbe, and Holbein's The Ambassadors among others. This print is in great shape with only a few small creases due to age. See pictures for details. This print is unframed. Paul Wunderlich (10 March 1927 in Eberswalde – 6 June 2010 in Saint-Pierre-de-Vassols) was a German painter, sculptor and graphic artist. He designed Surrealist paintings and erotic sculptures. He often created paintings which referred to mythological legends. Wunderlich was inspired by art movements such as Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
