Basilius Besler (1561-1629)
This custom framed set of botanicals comprises four exquisite antique Basilius Besler botanical prints, offered only as a complete ensemble. Acquired from a Palm Beach Estate, these prints display the meticulous artistry of Basilius Besler (1561-1629) from the renowned publication "Hortus Eystettensis" (The Garden of Eichstatt), originally published in Eichstatt and Nuremberg between 1613, 1640, and 1713.
Crafted using copper plate engravings and later hand-colored, each botanical is inscribed in the plate with the Latin names of the depicted botanicals. Each work is elegantly framed in a custom Italian giltwood frame measuring 26.5” x 30” x 2”. The prints, sight-sized at 16” x 19.”, are complemented by custom parchment lacquered mats.
