Old portrait of Fernando Alvarez de Toledo y Pimentel or Ferdinandus Toletanus Dux Albanus (1507 - 1582), known as the Grand Duke of Alba in Spain and the Iron Duke in the Netherlands, he was a Spanish noble, general, and diplomat. This print originates from 'L'histoire des Pays-Bas d'Emanuel de Meteren. Ou recueil des guerres, et choses memorables advenues tant és dits pays, qu'és pays voysins, depuis l'an 1315 (..)'.
Artists and Engravers: Emanuel van Meteren or Meteeren (1535-1612) was a Flemish historian and consul for 'the Traders of the Low Countries' in London.
