About the Item
Antique print titled 'Francis Lord Cottington'. Portrait of Francis Cottington, 1st Baron Cottington was the English lord treasurer and ambassador and leader of the pro-Spanish, pro-Roman Catholic faction in the court of Charles I.Printed in London by J. & P. Knapton, 1744.
Artists and Engravers: Jacobus Houbraken (1698-1780) was a Dutch engraver and the son of the artist and biographer Arnold Houbraken (1660–1719), whom he assisted in producing a published record of the lives of artists from the Dutch Golden Age. He produced a great number of book-illustrations in the taste of the time. He also engraved many portraits and some prints after contemporary masters.
Condition: Fair, mounted. Age-related toning and strong soiling. Minor wear, blank verso. Please study image carefully.
