Antique print titled 't' Veroveren van den Briel, op den eersten April des jaars 1572'. Old print of the conquest of Den Briel / Brielle on the 1st of April, 1572. This print originates from 'Histoire des Provinces-Unies des Pays Bas' by J. le Clerc. Artists and Engravers: Author: Jean Le Clerc / Joannes Clericus (1657-1736). From Hugenot origin, he studied filosophy, hebrew and theology in Geneva and travelled in Europe. He objected the calvinistic orthodoxie and influenced by Grotius, Episcopius, Van Limborch and others, he moved to Amsterdam, where he became a Remonstrant. He became a professor at the Remonstrant seminary, a writer and publisher. Condition: Very good, general age-related toning. Minor wear, blank verso. Please study image carefully.
