"Cormorants" Impressionistic Etching by R. Keith Rendall

About the Item

A beautiful hand-painted etching in an impressionistic style of Cormorants. They try to gather on a ledge to socialize and dry off, but are teased by pesky gulls. The print measures: 10” by 8.5” and is highlighted with watercolor on BFK paper. The frame (not pictured) is cherry making the overall presentation 18.5” by 16”. R. Keith Rendall is known for his large-scale woodcuts, exquisite etchings, drawings, paintings and carvings. His images showcase wildlife and landscapes in a extraordinary way. Besides his fascination with creatures and all aspects of the natural world, Keith Rendall's work reflects an interest in the authority of line and the weight of scale. Demonstrated not only in his monumental woodcuts, but in the strength and handling of even his smallest etchings, he has created a body of work that speaks to the importance and significance of the world in which we live through the power of each image. All the graphic works are cut by hand and negotiated within the realm of reflected light and then printed with a wooden spoon or etching press using the best inks and paper available. This old- world, traditional method of printing ensures that each piece is one of a kind, and the plate is usually retired after just a few images are created. Keith’s paintings and drawings are often done on very Fine Japanese paper with a variety of paints, inks and wax. They reflect the same energy and power of line and light as his prints. His style is unique, and has an international feel. All pieces are, or can be custom framed. Keith is noted for his unusual techniques that create texture and character, and the frames are works of art in and of themselves.
