Engraving by Jacques Grasset de Saint Sauveur. Jacques Grasset de Saint-Sauveur (1757-1810) was a draftsman. This print dates from 1798. Print engraved in black manner and colored. Engraving Etching Late 18th Century Table of the Discoveries of Captain Cook & La Pérouse AN 7 of the Republic 1798. Here One of five tables printed for the Tables of the Principal Peoples of Europe, Asia, Africa, America and the Discoveries of Captain Cook and De La Perouse by J. Grasset de Saint-Sauveur. Other plates included Europe, Asia, Africa and the Pacific. In earlier works, Sauver's illustrations were individual full-length portraits of people in their national or indigenous dress. In this work, he creates tableaus of peoples with detailed landscape backgrounds and a decorative boarding including native animals. This engraving represents America. 24 numbered costumes of peoples of the Americas arranged in three sections. including people from the native tribes from: Mexico, Peru, California, Arcadie, United States of America, Canada, Eskimaux,, Terra del Feugo,Patagonia, Greenland, Paraquay, Chili, Guyane, Florida, Panaman, Brazil, Louisinna, greater and lesser Antillies, Amazon, New Mexico, and Quito. In the decorative boarder Sauveur includes monkies, aramdillos, snales, frogs, beavers, squirriels, parrots, deer, and bears and plants such as pineapples.  With a nice 19th century frame.
