An original serigraph by Françoise Gilot, this image is known as "Sunflowers With Fallen Petals." Each is hand-signed by the artist. It was printed in 1990 for Art & Antiques magazine to honor and benefit the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, La Jolla, California, on their 30th anniversary. Printed at Studio Heinrici, New York, this serigraph was printed in ten colors in an edition of 1,000.
Françoise Gilot, born in 1921, is a French painter who is one of the most enduring artists of the post World War I School of Paris. She is also well known for her relationship with Pablo Picasso, with whom she had two children. She later married Jonas Salk.
