The natural son of John Daley, British food commissar and later prisoner of war in Verdun, and Frenchwoman Camille Augustine Bernard, César Daly grew up in Douai. He was introduced to architecture, then continued his studies in Félix Duban's workshop at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
In 1848, he was appointed as a member of the Phalansterian Commission for the Arts and Religious Buildings committed to Charles Fourier's socio-economic theses, founded an ephemeral society of interior and industrial artists in 1848 and ran unsuccessfully for the National Constituent Assembly the same year. During his travels, he visited the utopian colony of Icaria found by Etienne Cabet in Texas.
Daly was awarded the Legion of Honour on 13 August 1861 and received the Royal Gold Medal in 1892.
Much more than a practitioner in the field, César Daly was an influential man, active in professional bodies and associations and publishing in the world of architecture.
He was the secretary of the Central Society of Architects. A founding owner and editor of General Review of Architecture and Public Works (1840-1888) and Builders' Week (1877-1895), publications whose influence was considerable, he was also the author of numerous reference works.
With an experience of over 40 years, Artecornici design creates high-quality handmade frames using precious woods and working various types of high-quality finishes, lacquers and ageing, offering a vast choice of models.
Each print is an artisanal Florentine product, reproducing images of the European 18th and 19th centuries with the same printing techniques (engraving with a star press), the golden age of prints, which are then finished and watercoloured exclusively by hand
The richness of our work lies in the ability to make our customers' requests our own, creating products with personalized, unique, and precious creations, renewing our collections year after year.
