Large Original L S Lowry His Family Signed Ltd Edition 444/575 Lithograph Print

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this original 1972, Signed in Pencil L.S Lowry LTD Edition 444/575 Lithograph Print titled “His Family” with the Fine Arts Guild blind stamp to the bottom right corner and a new, Burr Oak frame A very fine representation of Lowry’s work, this came to me in an exceptionally poor plastic 1970’s gold frame, I’ve had it replaced with a very fine English Burr Oak example with a English racing green boarder which shows all the important information around the bottom which is as follows 1:- Edition number of 444 2:- The Fine Arts Guild blind stamp to the bottom left 3:- In the middle you have the following, “HIS FAMILY” l.s Lowry R.A Published by Adam Collection LTD Ref No ASP9L 72 Copyright in all countries 4:- Bottom right you have Lowry’s signature in Pencil, above the same name and date of 1955 from the original oil painting, at the bottom “Printed in England by Chorley & Pickersgill LTD” Condition wise as mentioned the frame is new, I had the frame makers keep the original glass and backing board, the backing board has the imagine outline burned into it which looks really quite amazing when you remove the print, it has made a silhouette of the family. The print itself has some discolouration and spots, all signs it’s a genuine piece that has been displayed and enjoyed Dimensions Height:- 76cm Width:- 93.7cm Depth:- 2.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.

Pair of Bernard De Montfaucon Paris 1719 L'antiquite Original Grand Tour Prints
By Bernard de Montfaucaon
Located in West Sussex, Pulborough
We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely pair of original copper plate prints dating to 1719 by Bernard De Montfauucon of Paris. Dom Bernard de Montfaucon, O.S.B. (French: [d? m?~fok?~]; 13 January 1655 – 21 December 1741) was a French Benedictine monk of the Congregation of Saint Maur. He was an astute scholar who founded the discipline of palaeography, as well as being an editor of works of the Fathers of the Church. He is regarded as one of the founders of the modern discipline of archaeology Montfaucon was born on 13 January 1655 in the Castle of Soulatgé, a small village in the southern town of Corbières, then in the ancient Province of Languedoc, now in the modern Department of Aude. Other sources claimed his birth date is in 16 January, the most accepted date. After one year he was moved to the Castle of Roquetaillade, residence of his family. When he was seven, he was sent to Limoux, to the college run by the Fathers of Christian Doctrine Montfaucon served in the French army as a volunteer and participated in the Franco-Dutch War of 1673. He was a captain of grenadiers and made two campaigns under the command of Marshall Turenne, participated in the Battle of Herbsthausen and fell ill in Saverne in Alsace. Because of his infectious illness he made a vow to Our Lady of Marceille to give one hundred livres to her sanctuary in Limoux and to become a monk, if he was able to return to his country as a result of her intervention. After the death of Montfaucon's father at the Château de Roquetaillade, in 1675 he entered the novitiate of the Benedictine monastery of Bream in Toulouse. There he learned several ancient languages: Greek, Hebrew, Chaldean, Syriac, and Coptic. In 1687 Montfaucon was called to the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and he started to work on an edition of the works of the Greek Church...
