About the Item
This stylish and chic mid-century modern piece will make a subtle statement with its use of materials and stylized abstract subject matter.
Note: This appears to be a very controlled modernist style monotype entitled "Still Life". The artist has signed his name but we cannot decipher it.
Note: Image measures 13.50"height x 17.50" width. It is floated on a frame measuring 21.75" height x 25.63"" width x 1.13" depth.
Note: On the reverse side of the artwork is another painting (see images)

Monotyping is a type of printmaking made by drawing or painting on a smooth, non-absorbent surface, such as glass. The image is then transferred onto a paper by pressing the two together, using a brayer or by techniques such as rubbing with the back of a wooden spoon or the fingers. Monotyping produces a unique print, or monotype; most of the ink is removed during the initial pressing.
This could also be a linocut (using a non-durable early linoleum instead of wood as the printing block) as the lines are reminiscent of early 20C linotypes.
In any case, this appears to be a unique print since the artist did not specify an edition count.
