Antique print titled 'Représentation d'Idoles du Temple d'Ablaikit et caractères Mongoles'. Copper engraving of of Idols of the Temple of Ablaykit and Mongolian characters. Ablaykit (also Ablayket), more correctly Ablayin Qiyid ("Ablai's monastery"), was a fortress and Buddhist monastery built by the Khoshut Oyirad ruler Ablai Taishi in 1654, Kazakhstan. This print originates from volume 18 of 'Histoire generale des voyages (..)' by Antoine Francois Prevost d'Exile. Artists and Engravers: Published by Rozet. Condition: Very good, general age-related toning. Original folding lines. Minor wear and soiling, blank verso. Please study image carefully. Date: 1768 Overall size: 34.5 x 25 cm.
