Tadashi Nakayama Horse Woodblock Print circa 1950's

About

Rare, large and impressive Tadashi Nakayama Horse Woodblock or woodcut from 1958 found in period frame. Nakayama is best known for creating carefully executed prints and for his horses. This early one, demonstrates his use of a few delicate tones of relatively dark grays and browns with a vibrant orange detail in the body of the horse. The prints of Nakayama are a testament to his skill in producing complex works, sometimes in very large dimensions, and they are also particularly appealing in the choice of imagery. They manage to capture the movements of his subject matter as demonstrated here with the horse. Signed: 1958 T. Nakayama 4/50.
