About the Item
This outstanding example of British craftsmanship was made by Francis John Hall, by trade a professional wine porter, of 10 Dorset Place, Vauxhall Bridge Road, Pimlico, London, where he lived from 1878 through 1889. They were exhibited at the Industrial and Fine Art Loan Exhibition, Richmond, Surrey, 1881, where they were described as "Models of Racing Outrigged Boats" by F.J. Hall at 3 pounds 10 schillings and awarded a medal in the Division of Model Ships, Steamers, Boats and Rafts.
