Organic Modern Wall Decorations

ORGANIC MODERN STYLE

Organic modern furniture is characterized by clean lines, an overall uncomplicated aesthetic and a prioritizing of natural, sustainable materials, such as wood and stone. There are lots of earth tones and natural-world textures rather than bright color palettes or fabrics embellished with busy patterns.

Organic furniture is minimalist and, owing to the ideas of venerable architect Frank Lloyd Wright, designed for warm spaces that promote harmony between human habitation and the great outdoors. Organic modern design, including in furniture and architecture, emerged in the 1930s.

Designers such as Andrianna Shamaris, Alguacil & Perkoff and Jörg Pietschmann — all known for organic modern design — have created furniture that brings dynamic and unpredictable energy to home interiors while emphasizing the importance of a relationship with the natural world.

Striking an appealing balance between our living spaces and nature doesn't have to be an arduous task — the broad selection of original organic modern furniture on 1stDibs includes solid wood tables, bamboo seating options, hand-knotted wall tapestries and more.

Hand-Carved Teak Wood Sculpture Panel Depicting Dayak Mythology
Located in Jimbaran, Bali
This unique teak carved panel depicts Dayak Tribal mythology. The Dayak people are some hundreds of various native groups found in the interior rainforests of Borneo. This carving depicts the tree of life, which the Dayak people believe exists on “Linden Tarung”, a mythical rock island where they believe humans first came to existence. “Linden Tarung” is the ancient and ancestral home of the Dayak peoples. It is this tree of life that reminds the Dayak people not to get too attached to worldly possessions. The tree of life also symbolizes heaven, earth and the underworld. The top of tree features hornbills that are the symbol of heaven. The middle represents the present earth and bottom of the tree the underworld. On either side of the carving are powerful faces of “Udos”, Udos, are mythical bore like creatures. The Dayak believed that Udos and other tribal motifs could scare off opponents during battle. Fighting and war were essential parts of Dayak lives protecting their land and warding off curses. To achieve such detail & depth required immense patience, craftsmanship and many months by a skilled artisan to complete. The medium for this carving was an antique teak door...
