******
Louis Toffoli is a French painter born in Trieste (Italy) on October 16, 1907, to an Italian father and a Slovenian mother, and died on February 18, 1999 in Paris.
Louis Toffoli paints what he likes, what he feels. The painter refuses to take the easy route, accepts no concessions. He is in search of an unusual inner truth, the colors and lights vibrating in his paintings make the patterns of the canvas sing and delight the spectators.
Toffoli's pictorial expression is characterized by a very powerful observation of human gesture, of picturesque scenes or landscapes marked by man. Just as the chamber orchestra knows how to evoke the essential and without artifice, the themes chosen and represented with strict simplicity immediately engage our sensitivity.

- Antique French Aubusson TapestryLocated in New York, NYThe Aubusson tapestry manufacture of the 17th and 18th centuries managed to compete with the royal manufacture of Gobelins tapestry and the privileged position of Beauvais tapestry. Tapestry manufacture at Aubusson, in the upper valley of the Creuse in central France, may have developed from looms in isolated family workshops established by Flemings that are noted in documents from the 16th century. Typically, Aubusson tapestries depended on engravings as a design source or the full-scale cartoons from which the low-warp tapestry-weavers worked. As with Flemish and Parisian tapestries...Category
